Job description

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has been established as the organisation that will plan and stage the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. There are currently 26 sports on the Olympic programme and 20 sports on the Paralympic programme. There are athletes from 205 National Olympic and 165 National Paralympic Committees competing in the events. A total of 384 athletes are expected to participate in the Olympic Volleyball programme, across two disciplines: Volleyball (288) and Beach Volleyball (96). Also expected are 192 athletes in the Paralympic programme in the discipline of Sitting Volleyball. The responsibilities of the Sports department include planning and organisation of the sports competitions and sports input into the briefs for venue design. Also required are identification of training venues, test event planning and the development of the competition schedule. Managers will be appointed for each of the Volleyball disciplines over the next 18 months. The first of these is for the Beach Volleyball Manager for Olympic Beach Volleyball. Until all of the Managers are appointed, the Beach Volleyball Manager will be required to work across all of the Volleyball disciplines.
